Charlie Plummer, born on May 24, 1999, is an American actor. He started acting as a child in short films and had his first big movie role in “Not Fade Away” (2012). He got his first lead role in the movie “King Jack” (2015). In 2017, he became more famous for his roles in “All the Money in the World” and “Lean on Pete,” for which he won the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival.
On TV, Charlie first appeared in “Boardwalk Empire” (2011–2013) and “Granite Flats” (2013–2015). In 2019, he starred in the Hulu series “Looking for Alaska” and in 2022, he played young Franklin D. Roosevelt in “The First Lady.”
Charlie was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, to actress Maia Guest and writer-producer John Christian Plummer. He grew up in Cold Spring, New York, with his younger brother James. Due to his parents’ jobs, his family moved a lot, and he attended seven different schools. Charlie was very shy as a child but got into acting early because of his parents. He acted in local plays and musicals, which made him love acting. At ten, he found his manager and later attended the Professional Children’s School in Manhattan.
As a child, Charlie acted in short films like “Frank” (2010) and “Three Things” (2011). He appeared in “Boardwalk Empire” (2011-2013) and made his movie debut in “Not Fade Away” (2012). He starred in “Granite Flats” from 2013 to 2015 and played the lead in “King Jack” (2015).
In 2017, he was in the movie “The Dinner” and played John Paul Getty III in “All the Money in the World.” He also starred in “Lean on Pete,” earning high praise and the Marcello Mastroianni Award.
In 2018, he was in “Dark Was the Night” and “The Clovehitch Killer.” In 2019, he starred in “Gully,” “Share,” and “Looking for Alaska.” In 2020, he appeared in “Words on Bathroom Walls” and “Spontaneous,” both well-received.
In 2022, Charlie was in “Wildflower,” and in 2023, he starred in “National Anthem,” which premiered at the SXSW Festival and received positive reviews.
Charlie lives in New York City and is a vegetarian. Before deciding to focus on acting full-time, he considered becoming a general manager for a football team because he loves the sport.
