Connie Nielsen, born on July 3, 1965, is an actress from Denmark.

She played Lucilla in the movie Gladiator (2000) and Queen Hippolyta in the DC Extended Universe, starting with Wonder Woman (2017). Connie has also been in films like Soldier (1998), Mission to Mars (2000), One Hour Photo (2002), Basic (2003), and Nymphomaniac (2013). She’s appeared in TV shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Boss.

Connie grew up in Elling, Denmark. Her mom worked in insurance and acted, and her dad was a bus driver. She started acting in local shows with her mom. At 18, she moved to Paris, then Italy for drama school.

She began acting in French and Italian films before moving to the US in the 1990s. Her big break was in The Devil’s Advocate (1997) with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves.

In Denmark, she won awards for her role in Brødre (Brothers) in 2004. Connie dated Lars Ulrich from Metallica and they have a son.
