Rajendra Gupta is an Indian actor and director. He’s known for his work on TV and in movies. You might recognize him from shows like Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Chandrakanta, and Saaya. He’s also acted in the famous movie Lagaan.
He grew up in Panipat and went to Kurukshetra University. His family was in the wool business, but he was more interested in acting. He met his wife while performing in a play in Indore. They got married secretly because her parents didn’t approve.
In 1972, Gupta went to the National School of Drama in Delhi to study acting and directing. His daughter, Ravee Gupta, is also an actress.
Gupta moved to Bombay in the ’80s and started acting in TV serials. He’s been in a lot of shows and movies. In 1990, he was even in the Limca Book of Records for being in the most TV serials—over 40!
His favorite work includes his role in Lagaan and Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro. He’s also acted in plays, which he loves the most. He’s directed many plays too, like Sarphire and Jaheez Hatyare, based on Albert Camus’ plays.
