Raúl Castillo Jr. is an American actor and writer. He acted in movies like “Amexicano” and “Cold Weather.” He’s known for his role as Richie Donado Ventura in the HBO show “Looking” and its movie finale. He got nominated for an award for his role in the movie “We the Animals.”

He grew up in Texas, near the Mexican border. His parents were from Mexico. He felt both Mexican and American because of where he lived. He liked acting since he was a kid. His brother played music, which inspired him. He joined a band in high school.

After high school, he studied writing and acting at Boston University. He started acting more seriously after college. He moved to New York City to pursue his acting career.

In addition to acting, he also writes plays. Some of his plays talk about life on the U.S.-Mexico border. He won awards for his acting and writing.

He’s close with his family and grew up Catholic. He’s straight, even though he played a gay character on TV. He lives in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan.
