Sylvia Hoeks (born June 1, 1983) is a Dutch actress and former model. She is well-known for her roles in the movies Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018).

Sylvia Hoeks grew up in Maarheeze, a town in North Brabant, Netherlands. After high school, she studied at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. Besides Dutch, she speaks German, French, and English, and she acts in productions in all these languages.

When Sylvia was 14, she was discovered by Elite Model Management. Her first modeling job was for the cover of Elle Girl magazine. She modeled around Europe while still in high school.

After graduating from the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts, she played a main role in the Dutch TV movie Staatsgevaarlijk. In 2005, she appeared in the series Gooische Vrouwen and starred in the thriller series Vuurzee.

Sylvia’s big break came with the movie Duska (2007) by Jos Stelling, for which she won a Golden Calf award for Best Supporting Actress. She went on to star in The Storm (2009), Tirza (2010), The Gang of Oss (2011), and The Girl and Death (2012). Her first international role was in The Best Offer (2013).

She also starred in the Dutch TV drama series Bloedverwanten (“Blood Relatives”) from 2010 to 2014, and the thriller series Overspel (“Adultery”) from 2011 to 2015.

In 2017, Sylvia played the replicant Luv in Blade Runner 2049, training intensively in weights and martial arts for the role. She also starred in the action film Renegades and was cast in All the Devil’s Men. In 2018, she played the sister of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web. Since 2019, she has appeared as Queen Kane in the Apple TV+ series See.

Sylvia is set to star in the thriller Berlin Nobody, directed by Jordan Scott, alongside Eric Bana and Sadie Sink. She will also portray Anna Nicole Smith in the upcoming biographical film Hurricana.
