Yuri Alexandrovich “Yura” Borisov (Russian: Ю́рий Алекса́ндрович Бори́сов, also tr. Yuriy Aleksandrovich Borisov; born December 8, 1992) is a Russian actor. He won the Golden Eagle Award in 2021 and was named Actor of the Year by GQ Russia in 2020.
Yura Borisov was born in Reutov, near Moscow. He graduated from the Shchepkin Higher Theater School in 2013, where he was taught by Vladimir Mikhailovich Beilis and Vitaly Nikolayevich Ivanov. He won the Golden Leaf award for Best Actor for his role in the play Zoykina’s Apartment.
Yura started acting in films in 2010 and had main roles in several TV series. He worked at the Moscow theater “Satyricon” in 2013-2014.
In 2019, Yura starred in the film The Bull, earning a nomination for the 18th Golden Eagle Awards in 2020 for Best Leading Actor. He also won the “Discovery of the Year” award from the magazine “Kinoreporter.” He had smaller roles in the films T-34, Union of Salvation, and Invasion.
In February 2020, the film AK-47 was released, where Yura played the main role of Mikhail Kalashnikov. His performance received positive reviews, and he won the Golden Eagle Award in 2021 for this role.
The year 2021 was very busy for Yura. He appeared in 8 feature films and played the lead role in the Finnish-Russian film Compartment No. 6, which won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
In 2024, Yura played a lead role in the film Anora, directed by Sean Baker, which won the Palme d’Or.
