The new Deadpool movie, often called Deadpool 3, is an upcoming superhero movie from America. It’s based on the character Deadpool from Marvel Comics. Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment are making it, and Disney will share it with audiences. This movie will be the 34th in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). The director is Shawn Levy, and the script was worked on by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, Ryan Reynolds, and Levy. Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool, and the movie also stars Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jennifer Garner.
They started planning a third Deadpool movie in 2016, but things paused when Disney took over 20th Century Fox in 2019. Disney handed Deadpool over to Marvel Studios, and they started making a new movie with Ryan Reynolds. This new movie connects Deadpool with the MCU and keeps the R-rating of the other films, making it the first in the MCU with that rating. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin joined in 2020 as writers. Reese and Wernick returned for rewrites in 2022 when Levy was chosen as director. Filming started in May 2023 in England but was paused until late November because of a strike.
Deadpool 3 is set to come out on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.

- Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool:
Deadpool is a funny soldier who can heal fast but has a lot of scars because he tried an experiment to cure his terrible cancer. The person who wrote the story says it’s like putting someone who acts crazy into a world where everyone is very normal, like the Marvel movies.
- Hugh Jackman as James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine:
There’s a particular person who can heal quickly, has claws that come out of their hands and has a super strong skeleton. Jackman, who played this person, said Logan and Deadpool are very different and would argue a lot, which would annoy Logan. To prepare for the role, Jackman exercised a lot and ate around 8,000 calories daily.
- Morena Baccarin as Vanessa:
Wilson’s future wife. Baccarin thought the movie would change how Vanessa and Wilson are together but still keep what makes them close.
- Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead:
A teenage member of the X-Men with the mutant power to detonate atomic bursts from her body.

In the new Deadpool movie, some familiar faces are back: Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Wilson’s old blind roommate; Karan Soni as Dopinder, a taxi driver and big fan of Wilson who drives him around; Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, a member of the X-Men who can turn into steel; Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, who is dating Negasonic Teenage Warhead and is part of the X-Men; and Rob Delaney as Peter, a member of Wilson’s “X-Force” team.
There are new actors too: Emma Corrin will play the main villain, and Matthew Macfadyen has a secret role. Also, a dog character named Dogpool is played by a dog named Peggy. Some other characters, like Sabretooth and Toad, will also be in the movie.

After the first Deadpool movie did well in 2016, the movie company, 20th Century Fox, wanted to make two more movies about Deadpool. They planned for the third movie with a team of superheroes called X-Force.
But the director of the first movie, Tim Miller, decided not to make the next movie because he and the leading actor, Ryan Reynolds, had different ideas. So, another director, David Leitch, was hired to make the second Deadpool movie in 2018. Fox was still looking for someone to make the third movie.
In March 2017, the people who wrote the Deadpool movies said that X-Force would first show up in Deadpool 2 and then have their movie. They wanted this new movie to be a big deal, not just part of the third Deadpool movie.
Later on, Disney said they were buying the company that owned 20th Century Fox. They said Deadpool 3 would be part of their other movies that are okay for younger viewers. But Disney also said they might still make more mature movies with Deadpool if they told people about it first.
In May 2018, Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool, thought there might not be a third Deadpool movie because they focused on X-Force. But the writers believed a third movie would happen after a break for Reynolds and after the X-Force movie came out. They thought it would be like how The Avengers came out between two Iron Man movies.
The people involved talked about different ideas for the next Deadpool movie. They considered making it like a road trip. They even talked about having Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine character in it, even though Jackman had said he was done playing Wolverine.
Then, in March 2019, Disney officially bought Fox and got the rights to make movies about characters like Deadpool and the X-Men. This paused the movies about these characters that Fox had been working on.
Development of Deadpool 3
In 2019, Josh Brolin talked with Marvel about being Cable in future movies after playing him in Deadpool 2. Zazie Beetz also hinted she might return as Domino. The creators took a break, waiting for Marvel’s plans. They confirmed there’d be another R-rated Deadpool film joining the MCU. They needed time to find the right idea, especially with more available characters. Ryan Reynolds met with Marvel to discuss, hoping to include Wolverine, but it wasn’t possible.
By 2020, they found writers for the new Deadpool 3 movie, sticking with the R-rating. David Leitch might not be direct due to other work. Marvel made it clear the film would be R-rated and part of the MCU. Reynolds was heavily involved in the script. In a fun promo for another movie, Reynolds appeared as Deadpool with Taika Waititi’s MCU character, Korg.
Things have progressed, and we are aiming for filming in 2022. Some actors showed interest in returning. Shawn Levy was set to direct, but filming wouldn’t start until after 2022 due to his schedule. Reynolds’ company got involved in producing, and the script got a rewrite. The writers were excited to blend Deadpool’s humour with the MCU, with Disney and Marvel on board. They teased changes similar to other big third movies in the MCU series. Feige mentioned how enjoyable it was to collaborate with Reynolds.

Rob Simonsen got a new job making music for the movie ‘Deadpool 3’. He worked with Levy before on The Adam Project and Stranger Things season four. He started around July 2023.
Release of Deadpool 3
Deadpool 3 will come out in the United States on July 26, 2024. It would come out on different dates, like September 6, November 8, and May 3. It’s going to be in Phase Five of the MCU.
