Sudhanshu Saria is a filmmaker from India. He was born in Darjeeling, where his family worked on tea plantations. He went to The Doon School and later studied at Ithaca College in New York, majoring in Film and Photography. His first movie, Loev, came out in 2015 and was a romantic drama. Saria won a National Film Award for his short film Knock, Knock, Knock.
In the beginning of his career, Saria worked for different film companies like ThinkFilm, New Films International, and Peace Arch Entertainment. He helped these companies find new movies to finance and distribute. Later on, he started his own production company called Four Line Films.
Saria’s short film, His New Hands, was shown at many film festivals and won awards for its storytelling and camera work. His first full-length film, Loev, premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and was screened at festivals all over the world. It got positive reviews and was released globally on Netflix.
His next film, Knock Knock Knock, is a psychological thriller set in Darjeeling. It was shown at the Busan International Film Festival and won awards at different festivals. The film was later released on MUBI.
Saria is now working on a new movie called Sanaa, featuring Radhika Madan, Shikha Talsania, Sohum Shah, and Pooja Bhatt. He’s also involved in producing other films like Taps. Saria has been on film festival juries and spoken at events about filmmaking. He recently worked on a drama series for Amazon Prime called Big Girls Don’t Cry and has another movie, Ulajh, coming out in theaters soon.
