Merry Christmas is a new exciting movie made in India. It’s a mix of romance and suspense, directed by Sriram Raghavan. The movie “Merry Christmas” was filmed in two languages, Hindi and Tamil, and it stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi.
They started taking pictures for the movie in December 2021 and finished in January 2023. This movie is special because it’s the first time Raghavan and Kaif worked in a Tamil film, and it’s Sethupathi’s third Hindi movie.
The release of Merry Christmas got delayed a few times, but now it’s set to come out in theaters on January 12, 2024.

Production Of Merry Christmas
Development
In the beginning of January 2021, Katrina Kaif agreed to act as the main female character in a new movie. She’ll star with Vijay Sethupathi, and Sriram Raghavan will direct the film. They planned to start making the movie in April, but they had to delay it because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s second wave. Also, Katrina got sick with COVID-19, so they had to wait. Finally, on December 25, they officially announced the movie. Ramesh Turani and Sanjay Routray will produce it.
Casting
Ramesh, the person making the movie, told ETimes that Vijay was just right for the role, so they asked him to be in the film. They always wanted Katrina for the part right from the start. Later, they said Sanjay Kapoor would be in the Hindi version. Then, in April, they said Radhika Sarathkumar would join the Tamil version. Vinay Pathak was announced for the Hindi version in August, playing an important role. In July 2023, they said Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte would have small roles in the movie.
Filming
Filming for the movie started on December 25, 2021, in Mumbai. But it had to stop in January 2022 because of more people getting sick with COVID. They started filming again in February at a place called Filmistan Studio in Mumbai. Sanjay did his scenes in March, and Katrina did hers on March 11. The first filming part finished in March.
The second part of filming started on March 19 in a studio in Chitrakoot and was planned to last for 45 days. Raadhika Sarathkumar filmed her parts in April. Because of a fire in the area in August, they had to move filming to another studio in Vrindavan. The second part finished in November.
In November, the third filming part began in Mumbai. Some pictures of Katrina, Sethupathi, and Kapoor on set were shared on social media by paparazzi. More pictures came out a few days later. Filming ended in January 2023, and they confirmed it officially on Sethupathi’s birthday.
Post-production
In November 2022, Raghavan started getting the movie ready after filming finished. Then, in May 2023, Raghavan said the movie will be in two languages, Hindi and Tamil. This is the first time Raghavan and Kaif will act in a Tamil movie. Each language version will have different actors. In the Tamil version, Deepa Venkat did the voice for Katrina’s character, and Raadhika Sarathkumar played Vinay Pathak’s part.
Music
Pritam made his first Tamil music for this. The music rights were bought by Tips Music.
Release Of Merry Christmas
Theatrical
The movie “Merry Christmas” was supposed to come out in theaters on December 23, 2022, but it got delayed because making it took longer than expected. They decided to release it in December 2023, but then they changed their plan again and now it’s coming out on January 12, 2024.

Netflix paid ₹60 crore (US$7.5 million) to be able to show the movie or series on their website.
