About Reunion
“Reunion” is a 2024 American comedy mystery movie directed by Chris Nelson. It stars Lil Rel Howery, Billy Magnussen, Jillian Bell, Jamie Chung, Michael Hitchcock, Nina Dobrev, and Chace Crawford. The story happens after a high school reunion, 20 years later, when a rude and popular student is murdered. The former classmates must find out who did it.
Plot of Reunion
The movie happens during the night of a twenty-year reunion for Ridgeview High School’s class of 2001. The party is at Mathew Danbury’s house, a successful hedge fund manager. The guests include police officer Evan West, his best friend Ray Hammond, journalist Jasmine Park, oddball Vivian Chase, aspiring Congresswoman Amanda Tanner, former popular girl Meagan Cooper, and their old teacher, Mr. Theodore Buckley.
At the reunion, Evan and Jasmine start to like each other. Ray keeps bothering Meagan, which leads to a big argument. Mathew, who says he is happily married, flirts with many women, including Meagan. Later, Mathew dresses up as their high school mascot and dances with everyone. Vivian interrupts to say Mathew bullied her in high school. A severe snowstorm makes most people leave early, but Evan, Ray, Jasmine, Vivian, Amanda, and Mr. Buckley stay because they are too drunk to drive.
In the morning, Jasmine finds Mathew dead in his bedroom, shot in the chest. The phone lines are down because of the storm, and there’s no sign anyone left the house since the storm ended. Jasmine and Amanda find late-night sexts from Mathew, leading Evan to think Mathew was killed after the storm, meaning one of them is the killer. Everyone had a reason to hate Mathew from their high school days.
Evan and Ray check the murder scene and find an open window and a bullet hole in a wardrobe door. Ray finds an earring in the wardrobe and hides it. Later, when they search each other’s pockets, Evan finds the earring, and Ray says he found it on the dance floor. In groups of three, they search the house for clues and find Amanda trying to hide a VHS tape showing her and Mathew poisoning another student. Amanda says someone blackmailed her to turn off the power at a certain time. They decide to sleep in separate locked rooms for safety.
At night, Jasmine sneaks into Mathew’s office and finds records on his computer. She gets knocked out by someone in the mascot costume. The next morning, Jasmine tells the group she was investigating Mathew for illegal hedge fund activities. The records show that Mathew cheated Buckley out of his life savings. Vivian notices one of their car trunks is open. Evan and Ray find Meagan’s dead body inside. Footprints in the snow match Ray’s boots, and the group thinks Ray killed Meagan and Mathew out of jealousy.
The phone lines are fixed, and Mathew’s wife, Lisa, learns about his death. She arrives with the police, and Ray is taken into custody. Ray grabs a gun and makes everyone go to the sitting room to explain what happened. He figures out that Lisa killed Mathew, blackmailed Amanda to turn off the power, opened the window to confuse evidence, wore the mascot costume so people wouldn’t know Mathew was already dead, and killed Meagan because she saw the crime.
Ray also reveals that Lisa’s accomplice was Evan, her lover, who sent the sexts from Mathew’s phone and hid Meagan’s body to frame Ray. They find Lisa and Evan’s messages on a mobile gaming app, proving their guilt and Ray’s innocence.
As the police take Evan and Lisa away, Jasmine offers Ray a job as an investigator for her newspaper. Ray, Jasmine, Vivian, Amanda, and Buckley take an awkward photo together to remember the experience.

Production of Reunion
In August 2021, it was announced that Howery, Magnussen, and Bell were chosen to be in the film, with filming planned to start in Los Angeles in the fall. Later that month, it was announced that Dobrev, Chung, Hitchcock, and Crawford also joined the cast, and filming would begin in Los Angeles the same week.
On September 16, 2021, Doan joined the cast and filming started in Los Angeles. On September 23, 2021, Blair also joined the cast.
In November 2021, it was announced that filming was finished.
Release of Reunion
The film came out in Brazil on Paramount+ on April 13, 2024. It will be available online in the United States on June 28, 2024.
