The project’s screenwriter is Simon Farnaby, known for his roles in Wonka and Paddington 2.
Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy will star in the movie adaptation of Enid Blyton’s children’s classic, The Magic Faraway Tree.
The story is about Polly and Tim and their kids Beth, Joe, and Fran, a modern family who move to the countryside.
Andrew Garfield (known for ‘tick, tick… BOOM!’ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge’) will play Tim, and Claire Foy (from ‘All of Us Strangers’ and ‘The Crown’) will be Polly.
The movie, which will start filming in June 2024, is produced by Neal Street Productions, Elysian Film Group, and Ashland Hill Media Finance. It is currently casting more actors.
Simon Farnaby, the screenwriter, said: “Having Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy is a dream for any screenwriter. They bring so much to their roles.”
The director, Ben Gregor, said: “Andrew and Claire are amazing actors. They are perfect for our film.”
Palisades Park Pictures is selling the movie worldwide, and CAA Media Finance is handling U.S. rights at the Cannes film market.
The film has been in development for a few years and is produced by Pippa Harris and Nicolas Brown of Neal Street Productions, Danny Perkins of Elysian Film Group, and Jane Hooks.
Executive Producers include Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, Jonathan Bross from Ashland Hill Media Finance, and Tamara Birkemoe from Palisades Park Pictures.
