“He said, ‘I never got to say goodbye to him.'”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently talked about something he feels sad about.
He shared a video on Instagram. It showed his dad getting a wrestling award in 1983. His dad, Rocky ‘Soulman’ Johnson, and Tony Atlas were the first Black Heavyweight Tag Team champions. The video also had a young Johnson in the audience, happy about his dad’s win.
In a long Instagram post, the actor talked about his dad. He mentioned how his dad worked hard and paved the way for people of color in sports and entertainment. Johnson expressed regret that he never had the chance to say goodbye because his dad died suddenly. He also wished they had fixed their complicated father-son relationship before his dad’s unexpected death in 2020.
Johnson has been open about regretting not resolving issues with his dad. Last Father’s Day, he shared that they had argued a month before his dad died, and they hadn’t made up.
He said in a message to others, “If your dad is still around, it’s a blessing. Even if you and your dad are dealing with complicated stuff, try to make things right and move past the drama.”
