The experienced action filmmaker will also make and help create the science fiction horror movie based on a script by Matthew Robinson, which will be presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

Louis Leterrier, known for directing Fast X and several Transporter action films, will direct and produce a new sci-fi horror movie called “11817,” based on a script by Matthew Robinson.

Leterrier’s Carrousel Studios, Rocket Science, Thank You Studios, Chernin Entertainment, and 3 Arts Entertainment are making the movie and looking for actors. Rocket Science will pay for everything, manage sales outside the U.S., and show the movie at Cannes. CAA Media Finance will sell the film in North America.

Leterrier is famous for making big-budget movies with many special effects, like Clash of the Titans, the Transporter series with Jason Statham, and The Incredible Hulk. His films have made $2 billion at the box office worldwide.

Leterrier said on Thursday, “I like directing movies where people care about the characters. No matter how complicated or brave they are, we feel we’re on the journey. That excites me about ‘11817’—it’s a completely new idea, and the family at the center of our story is very compelling. This will be a movie experience that people won’t forget.”

In “11817,” a family of four gets stuck in their house because of strange forces, and they can’t leave. They have to figure out how to survive as they run out of modern conveniences and things they need to stay alive, all while trying to outsmart whatever is keeping them trapped.

Leterrier will get credit as a producer alongside Thomas Benski, Omar Sy, Lars Sylvest, Kori Adelson, Oly Obst, Thorsten Schumacher, and Joe Neurauter. Cecile Gaget is an executive producer.

CAA and Entertainment 360/LBI represent Leterrier, and CAA and 3Arts represent Robinson.
