The Marché du Film will showcase Switzerland, which plays a vital role in European cinema by helping to produce and finance films.
In 2024, Switzerland will be the main focus at the Cannes Film Market from May 14 to 22. Swiss Films, along with the Swiss Federal Office of Culture and Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR, will organize events to highlight Switzerland’s film industry and the opportunities it offers international filmmakers. Switzerland will also host the opening night party on May 15.
Several Swiss films will be shown at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, including “The Shameless” and “Who Let the Dog Bite?” in certain festival sections. Swiss films will be featured throughout the Marché du Film’s program.
In the Cannes Docs section, four documentaries in progress from Switzerland will be showcased, and the Goes to Cannes section will showcase five works in progress by Swiss talents. Five emerging Swiss producers will join the Producers Network, and two Swiss composers will participate in the Spot the Composer networking event. The Swiss Arts Council, ProHelvetia, has also selected four Swiss-authored works for Marché’s Shoot the Book! Pitching section.
Speakers from prominent Swiss film festivals and organizations like the Locarno Film Festival, Zurich Film Festival, Cinémathèque Suisse, and ProHelvetia will be part of the Marché’s conference program.
