Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley wrote the script for a new project that was highly sought after.
Apple Original Film, A24, and Jennifer Lawrence are teaming up again for a new movie.
Apple won a competitive bid to acquire a murder mystery movie called The Wives, which will star and be produced by Jennifer Lawrence.
Lawrence will be joined by her producing partner Justine Ciarrocchi, as well as Jeremy O. Harris and Josh Godfrey, who will produce under their bb2 banner.
The script is still in development, and no director has been chosen yet. The story is inspired by the Real Housewives TV franchise, known for its dramatic and extravagant portrayal of wealthy women.
The Wives will be co-produced by Apple Studios and A24, who previously worked with Lawrence on the 2022 movie Causeway.
Apple and A24 have become known for their successful collaborations. They are currently making High and Low, a drama directed by Spike Lee starring Denzel Washington, and they recently released the documentary STEVE! by Morgan Neville. They will also soon release a dark comedy series called Sunny starring Rashida Jones.
Michael Breslin is known for his stage work, including directing Invasive Species at the Vineyard Theater and creating Circle Jerk and This American Wife with Patrick Foley.
Patrick Foley is an Obie-winning actor and writer. He recently appeared in The Seagull in Woodstock, NY, and co-wrote Circle Jerk with Breslin, which was a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer Prize in drama.
Jennifer Lawrence’s last movie was the comedy No Hard Feelings.
