The new movie “Unfrosted,” coming to Netflix on May 3, is a made-up story about how Pop-Tarts might have started. Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian, wrote and directed this funny movie. It’s not a real story about how Pop-Tarts began, though.
In the movie, Seinfeld jokes about a competition between breakfast companies Kellogg’s and Post in 1963. They raced to create a pastry like Pop-Tarts, but that’s just for laughs in the movie. Seinfeld says it’s all just crazy and fun.
To promote the movie, Seinfeld made a funny video where he pretends Pop-Tarts is mad because he used a lot of breakfast brand names in his movie without asking first. They even joke about taking some of Seinfeld’s famous TV characters.
Pop-Tarts isn’t really mad, though. They think it’s cool that Seinfeld made a movie about them. They made a special Pop-Tarts box called “Trat-Pops” just for fun. Fans can enter a contest to win one on their website.
