Barry Jenkins is directing a new Lion King movie called “Mufasa: The Lion King.” It’s not just a regular sequel; it’s a mix of a prequel (a story that happened before) and a follow-up (continuing from) to the 2019 Lion King movie.
This film, coming out on December 20, tells the story of Simba’s father, Mufasa. Mufasa was an orphan who grew up as a wise and kind ruler.
In this movie, Aaron Pierre voices Mufasa (played by James Earl Jones in the earlier films), and Kelvin Harrison Jr. voices Scar, Mufasa’s evil brother.
Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will be back as Timon and Pumbaa, the funny duo from the 2019 movie. That movie was a huge hit, making $1.7 billion worldwide and becoming Disney’s most successful film ever.
Barry Jenkins promised this new movie would be exciting, funny, and full of great music. He’s kept the music details a secret but says the songs are fantastic.
