Tom Tykwer Replaces Stefan Arndt as Head of Production Company X Filme

Arndt, who started X Filme in Berlin with Tykwer 30 years ago, is stepping back from leading the company to focus more on making films.

German filmmaker Tom Tykwer is taking over as the boss of X Filme Creative Pool, a company he helped start 30 years ago with Stefan Arndt. Arndt is leaving his position willingly.

Tykwer will lead X Filme with Uwe Schott, a producer who has been there since 2009. Arndt will still produce movies for X Filme and is still part of the company.

Arndt said he wants to focus on making movies again and has exciting projects planned with the X Filme team.

Arndt and Tykwer started X Filme in 1994 with directors Wolfgang Becker and Dani Levy. The company made successful films like Run Lola Run, Good Bye, Lenin!, and Go for Zucker! Babylon Berlin, a TV series they created, also did very well.

With Babylon Berlin ending soon, X Filme wants to get back to making unique films.

Tykwer said they want to encourage filmmakers from Europe to tell their stories for movies or TV. He believes audiences want new, exciting stories.

Tykwer is also making a new movie called The Light, coming out in Germany in October.
