Orion and the Dark is a new cartoon movie from America. It’s a fun and exciting adventure for kids. The director is Sean Charmatz, and it’s his first time making a big movie. The story is written by Charlie Kaufman and inspired by the children’s book by Emma Yarlett. DreamWorks Animation completed the movie, and you can watch it on Netflix starting on February 2, 2024.
Premise of Orion and the Dark
Orion is like a regular kid in elementary school. He’s quiet, keeps to himself, and has a crush he hasn’t told anyone about. But there’s something you might not know about him. He worries a lot about things that might not make sense to others, like bees, dogs, the ocean, cell phone waves, scary clowns in the gutters, and even falling off a cliff.
His biggest fear, though, is the Dark. Every night, he faces this fear. One night, something representing his fear comes to visit him. The Dark takes Orion on a wild adventure around the world to show him that there’s nothing to be scared of in the night. As they spend more time together, Orion has to decide if he can stop letting fear control his life and start enjoying life instead.

Production
On June 12, 2023, it was told that Netflix and DreamWorks Animation worked together on a movie. The person who wrote the movie is Charlie Kaufman. They showed parts of the movie at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on the same day. Jacob Tremblay, Paul Walter Hauser, and Werner Herzog will use their voices in the movie.
In January 2024, they said more people would use their voices in the movie. Ike Barinholtz, Angela Bassett, Colin Hanks, and Carla Gugino.
Animation
Mikros Animation is making the pictures move for a movie. They helped with Captain Underpants before. Now, they’re animating this movie from places called Paris and Bangalore.
Music
Kevin Lax and Robert Lydecker, the music creators for Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, are making the music for the movie.

The movie will come out on Netflix on February 2, 2024.
