Premise

Nellie Robinson is 34 years old, doesn’t have much money, and is not in a relationship. After a breakup, she chooses to freeze her eggs.

Scrambled is a movie that Leah McKendrick made about her own experience with egg retrieval in 2021. She wrote, directed, and acted in the film, her first time running. The movie was produced by Gillian Bohrer, Jonathan Levine from Megamix, Brett Haley, and Amanda Mortimer. Mariah Owen, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, and Grady Craig from BondIt Media Capital provided the money for the film as executive producers.

The primary filming for the movie finished in September 2022. Julie Swain was the cinematographer and used an Arri Alexa camera with the OpenGate 4.5k format. Sandra Torres Granovsky edited the film using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Release

In September 2022, Lionsgate Films got the rights to show the movie Scrambled worldwide. The movie was first shown to the world on March 11, 2023, at the South by Southwest (SXSW) event. Lionsgate also sold the rights to show the movie in other places at this event. The movie will appear in theatres on February 2, 2024, and Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will show it.
