Premise
Colt is an old stuntman who used to do daring tricks but isn’t in his best shape anymore. He’s now on a movie set with a very famous actor he used to work for. The actor disappears, and the movie, directed by Colt’s ex-girlfriend, might stop. Colt decides to help find the missing actor and save the movie.

Production
Development
In 2010, the Los Angeles Times said a movie based on a show from the 1980s called The Fall Guy was being made.
DreamWorks Pictures and producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald were working on it. They talked about having Martin Campbell direct the film. DreamWorks planned to release the movie in some parts of the world, and another company, Mister Smith Entertainment, would handle other places. In 2013, there were talks about Dwayne Johnson acting as the main character and McG directing.
Then, in 2020, news came out that Ryan Gosling, director David Leitch, and writer Drew Pearce were making a movie about a stuntman. Universal Pictures got involved. In 2022, it was confirmed that this movie was the adaptation of The Fall Guy. Universal is making the movie with companies owned by Leitch and Gosling. Pearce, the original series creator, and others are on the team.
Variety said the Australian government and the New South Wales state gave much money to help make the movie. They thought it would help the local economy and involve many Australian actors and crew, plus thousands of extras.
Casting
In September 2022, Emily Blunt joined the group of actors, and Gosling and his family came to Australia to start making a movie. In October 2022, we discovered that Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Stephanie Hsu will also be part of the movie. They had worked with the director before. Then, in November 2022, Winston Duke, Hannah Waddingham, and Teresa Palmer also joined the team of actors.
Filming
Filming for the movie started in October 2022 in Sydney, Australia, at Disney Studios. They filmed at different places in Sydney, like a parking lot on Goulburn Street, and even closed the Sydney Harbour Bridge for some scenes with Ryan Gosling. They finished filming everything on March 2, 2023.
Music
Dominic Lewis made the music for The Fall Guy. He also did the music for Bullet Train before. Blake Shelton sang “Unknown Stuntman,” the song that Lee Majors sang first for the series.
Release
The Fall Guy will come out on May 3, 2024. It was supposed to be released on March 1, 2024, but they changed it to May 3.
