Premise
Ex-NFL player Jaycen Jennings decides to become a coach for a kids’ football team instead of going to jail. He’s hoping that coaching will help him start his career again.

Production
Snoop Dogg and Constance Schwartz-Morini came up with the idea for the movie. On August 2, 2022, it was said that Snoop Dogg would act and make the movie. Charles Stone III would direct it, and Danny Segal and Isaac Schamis would write the screenplay. The movie would be produced by Schwartz-Morini, Kenya Barris, Mychelle Deschamps, and Jonathan Glickman. On October 4, 2022, they shared that Tika Sumpter, Mike Epps, Andrew Schulz, and George Lopez, along with child actors Jonigan Booth, Adam James Carrillo, Kylah Davila, Caleb Dixon, Alexander Michael Gordon, and Shamori Washington, joined the cast.
Filming for The Underdoggs started in Atlanta in September 2022.
Release
The movie was supposed to appear in theaters on October 20, 2023, but they changed it to January 26, 2024. They released the trailer on December 6, 2023, and said it wouldn’t be in theaters. Instead, it would be available on Amazon Prime Video the same day. They did this because R-rated comedy movies weren’t doing well in theaters that summer.
