The new movie “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is a significant action and science fiction movie from America. It’s directed by Wes Ball and written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. People like Joe Hartwick Jr., Jaffa, Silver, and Jason Reed helped make it. This movie comes after “War for the Planet of the Apes” in 2017 and is the fourth in the series that starts with “Planet of the Apes.”
Owen Teague plays the main character in the movie, and other actors like Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, and William H. Macy are in it too.
They started working on this new movie in April 2019, after Disney got 20th Century Fox. Wes Ball joined as the writer and director in December of that year. They wrote a lot of the story when the COVID-19 pandemic was happening in 2020. They began choosing actors in June 2022 after finishing the story. Owen Teague got the leading role in August of that year. They shared the movie’s name and talked about more actors in the months after. They filmed most of the movie in Sydney from October 2022 to February 2023.

Premise of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
About 300 years later, from the movie War for the Planet of the Apes, ape societies have grown after Caesar led them to safety. But humans have gone back to living like wild animals. The new ape leader, Proximus Caesar, twists Caesar’s ideas and makes other groups of apes enslaved people. Noa, a regular chimpanzee, goes on a tough journey with a young human named Mae. They want to decide what happens next for both apes and humans.

Production of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
In 2016, the director of two Planet of the Apes movies said he had ideas for another one. In 2017, he and another writer became interested in making more movies about apes. They talked about how there could be conflicts between different groups of apes and how the story might continue long after the last film.
Later, in 2019, Disney said they were planning more Planet of the Apes movies. They confirmed the new movies would be part of the same world as the first one in the series. They announced a new director, Wes Ball, to work on the movie.
In 2020, the new director said the film wouldn’t start the story again but would follow what happened after the last movie, focusing on what the leader of the apes, Caesar, had left behind. They also mentioned the producers and how they worked on the script during video calls because of the pandemic.
By 2022, they were getting ready to start making the movie, aiming to finish the script and begin filming by the end of the year. They had some new people joining the team and decided on a title: “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.” The story would happen many years after the last movie, and they had more writers involved. There were changes in the producers as well.
Casting of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
In August 2022, using motion capture, Owen Teague played a central role in the movie. The following month, Freya Allan and Peter Macon also joined the movie. They told everyone the movie’s name and when it will come out. In October, Eka Darville and Kevin Durand joined, too. Later that month, Travis Jeffery, Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Lydia Peckham, and Ras-Samuel Weld A’abzgi became part of the cast. In January and February 2023, they added William H. Macy and Dichen Lachman to the movie.
