The Amateur is a new exciting spy movie from America. James Hawes directed it, and Gary Spinelli wrote the story. It’s based on a book from 1981 by Robert Littell, which was made into a movie back then too. Dan Wilson and Hutch Parker produced it for 20th Century Studios. The movie stars Rami Malek, Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Adrian Martinez, Laurence Fishburne, Holt McCallany, and Julianne Nicholson.
Premise of The Amateur
Charles Heller works for the CIA and is good at solving secret codes. When his wife dies in a terrorist attack in London, he sees that his bosses at work won’t help because they have other important things to do. So, he threatens to tell secrets about the agency unless they teach him how to fight and let him chase the terrorists on his own.

Production
A new movie based on a book by Robert Littell was talked about first in November 2006. They said Hugh Jackman would be the main actor, and Evan Katz would write the script.
Then, in February 2023, they said Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson would make the movie for 20th Century Studios. James Hawes would direct it, and Rami Malek would play the main part. Malek would also help produce the movie.
In May, they said Rachel Brosnahan, Caitriona Balfe, Adrian Martinez, Laurence Fishburne, Holt McCallany, and Julianne Nicholson would join the cast.
They started filming in London in June 2023. They planned to film in places in the south-east of England, France, and Turkey. But in July, they stopped filming because of a strike. They started filming again in December 2023.

The film is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024.
